[project] Debunking Data

Naomi Arefaine, Senior Research Analysis (Pharmaceutical Company) will be with us for the whole elective session on the 15th Nov.

Brief: How do vaccines work and what are their limitations? Why did the anti-vaccination campaigns take off? And how can we design experiences to alter the behaviour of those who refute the science behind vaccines?

Working in groups, research and design a ‘debunking experience’ to communicate an aspect of Naomi Arefaine’s’ talk.

Audience: Parents of children under 16.

Following Naomi Arefanie’s talk about vaccinations debates among parents, we start talking to parents and googling.

When me and Akvile look into movements about anti-vaccinations, we feel there’s a need for parents to look into facts presented from both sides. Afterall, the internet could be a dark hole if you keep digging (more and more dark web articles will reveal themselves ha!)

We designed this discomfort blanket. Just like another lazy afternoon in the winter, the audience are invited to sit down and have a sip of hot tea and cover themselves with a nice cozy quilt.

On one side, it’s all the strong anti-vaccination billboards that were put along the highway in the US. It’s a nod to the views of the anti-vaccination parents. However, when they turn to the other side of the blanket, it’s all the real stories about kids didn’t get vaccinated and caught serious diseases.
